Vizag and Anakapalle MPs K. Haribabu and Muttamsetti Srinivas Rao hold a review meet with officials in Visakhapatnam on Thursday.

Visakhapatnam: MPs from the district asked officials to speed up works to ground various projects sanctioned by the Centre for Vizag. Stating that these projects will change the face of Vizag, they lamented tardy progress on these projects due to negligence of the officials. Vizag and Anakapalle MPs K. Haribabu and Muttamsetti Srinivas Rao reviewed the progress of these projects with the senior district officials on Thursday.

They pointed out that six and four-lane roads to various places in the country from Vizag have been sanctioned and with this, there is scope for investments to the tune of Rs 25,000 crore. The MPs had urged the officials to bring if there are any issues in grounding the Centrally-sanctioned projects into their notice to take up with the Union government. Anakapalle MP said that 50 km-long highway has been sanctioned between Anandapuram, Pendurthy, Anakapalle and asked the officials to immediately acquire land and complete the highway project.

Mr Haribabu had expressed displeasure over not informing them about the progress of these projects regularly. He urged the officials to give wide publicity to the projects sanctioned by the Union government and their benefits to Vizag.  The MPs also discussed about national highways, NTPC’s new plant, National Institute of Oceanography new premises, international air cargo terminal, RINL expansion, Vizag-Chen-nai industrial corridor, physically challenged sports complex, AP Med-Tech zone and Indian Maritime University.
