Hyderabad commuters bear brunt of politics
Heavy traffic flow was witnessed from KBR Park, Jubilee check post towards Road Number 45.
Hyderabad: Commuters witnessed a heavy traffic jam from Punjagutta to Taj Krishna as all Congress and JD(S) MLAs from Karnataka were shifted to Taj Krishna Hotel at Banjara Hills on Friday morning.
All the OB vans and other media vehicles parked outside the luxury hotel blocked the traffic and the local MLAs came in support of the Karna-taka MLAs. Commuters faced heavy traffic jam from 10 am to 11.30 am on Friday morning during peak hours.
Commuters were highly annoyed as they were stuck in the traffic jam which was later spread to the surrounding areas like Begumpet, Ameerpet, and Greenlands due to the ongoing dharna at Lifes-tyle by 300 Sarva Shiksha Employees. Heavy traffic flow was witnessed from KBR Park, Jubilee check post towards Road Number 45.
Traffic was slow from NFCL, Vengal Rao Park, and Banjara Hills road number 14, Taj Krishna towards road number 10. Also nearby areas like Masab tank, Ameerpet, Punjagutta junction towards NIMS road, Shadan College, Lakdika-pul towards VV statue, Mahaveer Hospital, Srina-gar T junction, MJ Coll-ege, Chutneys towards NFCL junction were also affected by the traffic jam.
Mr Anil Kumar, additional traffic commissioner, said the traffic jam occurred due to the sudden breakdown of a Volvo bus which was entering Hotel Taj Krishna.
“The Volvo was stuck at the main gate of Taj Krishna resulting in blocking of half the road and causing obstruction in the movement of vehicles. It has resulted in the slow movement of vehicles which has led to heavy traffic congestion on nearby roads. Efforts were made by traffic police to remove the bus and our team successfully cleared the bus as well as the jam’’.
Mr Srinivas Teja, a commuter who was driving a two-wheeler from Khairtabad to Madhapur said, ‘’As my office is in Madhapur, I take this route from Khairtabad towards Taj Krishna but today due to the slow movement of vehicles near Taj Krishna and towards Punjagutta road, I was badly stuck in the traffic. It was really annoying as I was driving a two-wheeler and it was also hot. Generally it takes half an hour to reach office everyday but today it took two hours’’.
