Patient dies in Kozhikode MCH during treatment

Kozhikode: A young man undergoing treatment after keyhole surgery at Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital died in the wee hours of Saturday.

Relatives sent a complaint of medical negligence to the chief minister against the hospital authorities.

Doctors had performed the surgery on Thazhekuniyil Baiju, a native of Chemancheri near Koyilandy, to remove a stone from the bile duct. They blame it on doctors for negligence in treating him on time.

He got admitted to the hospital on April 13 and within one week following surgery, his health condition deteriorated. After removing the stone, no tube was inserted in the bile for letting out secretions, resulting in worsening of his health.

Medical College superintend said that there has been no flaw in the treatment. "Reports have been sought to the concerned department head, based on which we will take a decision.".
