Over 10 lakh devotees expected at Kamakhya temple

Guwahati: The BJP led alliance government has decided to lay special focus on historic Ambubachi Mela at Kamakhya temple by launching a special cleanliness drive during the congregation of expected 10 lakh devotees.

The Ambubabchi Mela, often described as ‘Mahakumbh of the East’ is in the focus this time as for the first time over 250 Naga Babas led by Mahant Ranjitananda Giriji Moharaj, the Thanapati of Dashanami Juna Akhara, is going to take out a procession in the city on June 21 a day before the festivity starts at Kamakhya.

The state's spiritually inclined chief minister, Sarbananda Sonowal, who chaired a meeting of police and civil authorities on Wednesday has given instruction for an elaborate security arrangement to make the event successful.
