Hyderabad: Private bus operators in the state are planning to approach the government seeking transfer of registration of private buses registered with the Arunachal Pradesh government and plying in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

So far, the state motor vehicle rules of both the Telugu states have had  provision for registration of 1+1 berth system for sleeper coaches. The 2+1 berth system available in Arunachal buses is not allowed.

A spokesperson from Orange Tours and Travels said that all private bus operators would meet the transport minister on the issue.

“We will request the government to transfer AR registered buses to TS,” he said.

A Telangana Transport official said that operating 2+1 sleeper coach buses in Telangana is illegal. “We are strictly restricting the operations of such buses. A few buses are running due to a court stay order,” the official said.

General secretary of the Telangana RTC Employees’ Union K. Raji Reddy said the unions had earlier submitted to transport minister and the transport commissioner not to allow registration of buses that had previously registered with Arunachal Pradesh.

“We want additional buses of TSRTC to run on those routes. The RTC will get Rs 1,000 crore per annum more if it introduces buses in the routes,” he said.
