Hyderabad: The process of promotions for TS southern discom employees has been held up due to a court decision, and has divided the employees.

On the directions of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, the power utilities TS Transco, Genco and northern discom have almost completed the process of promotions for their staff.

It has been held up in southern discom. On a petition filed by TS-origin Andhra employees of the southern discom, the  High Court ruled that promotions should be given to superintendent engineers taking into consideration the 2013 seniority list.

This means that the southern discom has to take into consideration the seniority list as it existed in undivided Andhra Pradesh.

According to sources, southern discom is taking legal opinion to go in for an appeal. In the meanwhile, there is no movement on the matter of promotions.

Meanwhile, differences have surfaced between between Andhra and Telangana employees. Leaders of employee unions alleged that Telangana region staff in the past could not get promotions in undivided AP. They said that they would bring pressure on the management to get justice for Telangana region employees.

The 15 unions have decided to unite and fight out the issue and have offered full support to southern discom chairman and managing director G. Raghuma Reddy.

TS-native Andhra employees said they would not keep quiet if they were not given promotions on the grounds that their origins is in the Andhra region.
