The students will go abroad from July till August.
Hyderabad: The TS Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society is sending 27 girl students abroad on student volunteer exchange programmes.
This is part of an initiative to provide gender equality and promote leadership opportunities for girl students of the Hyderabad chapter of Aiesec (Association International des Étudiants en Sciences Économiques et Commerciales).
The students will go abroad from July till August. Dr R.S. Praveen Kumar, secretary, TSWREIS, said, “We are glad to partner with Aiesec in Hyderabad which is facilitating a programme of student exchange with complete leadership experience for the 27 girls shortlisted by us. These girls are ambitious and smart, and this opportunity would give them exposure to leadership skills in countries such as Sri Lanka, Nepal, Vietnam, Cambodia and Poland’’.
Ms Shivaleela Shivani, 18, from LB Nagar, Hyderabad, is excited about the opportunity. Ms Shivani, who will be travelling to Sri Lanka, said. “I am very grateful to Aiesec for giving us the opportunity to learn, develop and grow not only personally but also professionally on a global scale. I would have never got an occasion to step out of Hyderabad, leave alone going to Sri Lanka.”
