Kurnool: Cold storage gutted, Rs 3 crore loss

Kurnool: In a major fire  mishap,  an estimated property of  Rs 3 crore, including infrastructure and agriculture produce, was gutted as the Srichakra Cold Storage and Godown in which it was stocked up caught fire  near Bollavaram village in Nandikotkur mandal on Tuesday.

It is suspected that the fire could have been caused due to leakage of the ammonia tank or  electrical short circuit.

According to sources, fire broke out around 5 am on Tuesday in the godown. On learning about the fire mishap by its watchman who informed to the godown organisers and fire department, four fire tenders were rushed to the spot.

It took six hours for the fire personnel to douse the flames. In the meantime, agriculture produce including mirchi, red gram, groundnut and others were completely burnt.

The fire department officials estimated the loss to be around Rs 3 crore. There was no loss of life, district fire officer G Srinivasa Reddy said. A case was registered and inquiry is on.
