BENGALURU: With a local court directing Madikeri Town police to register the FIR in the suicide case of DySP Ganapati, CID officials have stopped their investigation. It’s now over to the local police who have to register the FIR and start a fresh probe.
The police have time till August 5 to register the FIR, as the court has directed them to submit the action taken report by this date. The FIR has to be registered at the Madikeri station first after which the government can either allow the police to investigate or issue a fresh order directing CID to continue the probe. The case can also be referred to the CBI.
After lodging the FIR, the accused - former minister K.J. George, ADGP A.M. Prasad and IGP Pronab Mohanty- will have to be interrogated by the police. There is no rule that they have to be arrested.
