Karnataka High Court issues emergent notice to film chamber
The petitioner has sought directions to hold the election to the film body as it was long overdue.
Bengaluru: The High Court on Tuesday ordered issue of emergent notice to Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) and notice to the secretary to Department of Co Operation and the District Registrar following the petition filed by KFCC member Ba Ma Harish.
The petitioner has sought directions to hold the election to the film body as it was long overdue.
The petitioner stated that election was already late by nine months. However, the incumbent elected body, led by its chairman Sa Ra Govindu, had called for a general body and later said that 200 members have requested the current body to continue.
But such a move is against to the provisions of Registrar of Societies Act. Moreover, as per the KFCC bylaw, the tenure for the chairman and its member associates of the body has one-year term following which election has to be conducted, petitioner stated.
