Hyderabad: Rs 207 crore for 52 flyovers, eight skyways

The government asked the corporation to complete the project witin a period of three months.

Hyderabad: The state government on Wednesday accorded administrative sanction of Rs 207 crore to construct 52 foot over bridges (FoBs) and eight skyways. Principal Secretary Municipal Administration and Urban Development Arvind Kumar has issued a GO 546 in this regard.

According to the GO, HMDA would fund Rs 75 crore for constructing 39 FoBs and the remaining amount will be borne by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. The government asked the corporation to complete the project witin a period of three months.

Earlier, the government had directed the HMDA to take up construction of 14 of the proposed 44 foot overbridges with its own funds and the remaining 30 FoBs with the funds to be provided by the corporation.

The HMDA agreed to construct, in the first phase, five FOBs on engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis at Chilkalaguda Crossroads towards Musheerabad, near Secunderabad railway station (21.65 mt); IDPL Bus Stop, Prashanthnagar (17.80 mt); near Allwyn crossroads, Miyapur (34.40 mt); near Uppal Ring Road towards Uppal/Ghatkesar (13.50 mt); and near Eat Street Parking Lot-II, Necklace Road (19.50 mt). Each FoB was estimated to cost between Rs 1.25 crore and Rs 1.50 crore.
