Hyderabad: A woman delivered a baby in an autorickshaw outside the Malakpet area hospital which she was allegedly not allowed to enter. The newborn girl, two months premature, died almost immediately.
According to her family, Firdous Fatima, a resident of Old Malakpet, was seven months pregnant and went to the hospital for a regular check-up. The security guard did not let her in, claiming the doctor was in the operation theatre.
She sat in the autorickshaw but developed labour pains. Despite this, the driver was asked to park the vehicle outside the hospital, the family alleged.
Firdous gave birth to a baby girl who died while she was being shifted to the hospital. Hospital staff clarified that Ms Fatima was referred to the maternity hospital by the doctors as her condition was critical.
