Warangal: Warangal is a culturally diversified city with people of various religions celebrating different festivals. Everyone must strive to ensure the festivals are celebrated in a peaceful atmosphere, said Warangal commissioner of Police G. Sudheer Babu.

Addressing a meeting with all religious heads in Warangal on Friday, he said this peace meeting was called in view of the upcoming festivals like Vinayaka Chavithi and Bakrid from August 25.

Addressing the members of Ganesh Utsav committees, he said everyone must use only Ganesh idols made of clay to celebrate the festival. He asked them to cooperate with the police in preserving the peaceful atmosphere while celebrating the festivals.

“The day of the Ganesh immersion and Bakrid are falling on consecutive days. We hope the people would celebrate the festivals with harmony. We have decided not to give new permits for Ganesh pandals this year. The committee members asked to refrain from playing loud music at the pandals and not create any inconvenience to the public,” he said.

Religious head of different communities and police officials attended.
