Hyderabad: 16-year-old driver rams his SUV into auto, infant killed
Sandhya, Madhav, Maha-dev, Nagamani and autorickshaw driver K. Raju suffered injuries.
Hyderabad: A 14-month-old boy died, while his twin brother, mother and grandmother survived injuries when a 16-year-old driving an SUV (sports utility vehicle) rammed into the autorickshaw they were travelling in, at Bowenpally on Sunday.
According to a Bowenpally police officer, Ms C. Sandhya Rani, a resident of KPHB, along with her twin sons — Madhava and Mahadev — and her mother Nagamani was travelling in the autorickshaw (TS13 UA 4376) from KPHB Colony to Yapral when the accident took place.
When the vehicle reached Dairy Farm crossroads towards Indiranagar, a speeding SUV (TS09 EN 1987) rammed the autorickshaw. The SUV then rammmed into two more bikes passing on the road.
Sandhya, Madhav, Maha-dev, Nagamani and autorickshaw driver K. Raju suffered injuries. With the help of passersby, they were shifted to a nearby hospital, where Mahadev died while undergoing treatment. Nagamani is in a critical condition, said the police.
“On inquiry, it was found that the car was driven by a minor, a resident of Alwal. A case has been registered against him, and also the owner of the car, who had let the minor to drive it,” said Bowenpally inspector P. Chandra Shekar.
