Baghel Announces Rs 11 Crore Aid to Himachal Disaster Victims
Raipur: Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday announced a financial aid of Rs 11 crore for the people affected by rains and landslides in Himachal Pradesh.
Mr Baghel held discussion with his counterpart in Himachal Pradesh Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu over phone on Thursday on the calamity the state was currently experiencing.
He expressed his solidarity with the people of Himachal Pradesh in this hour of crisis.
Mr Baghel assured that the country stands with the people of Himachal Pradesh in these difficult times and that all necessary efforts to provide them necessary succour will be made.
The landslides caused by incessant rains in the last 55 days in Himachal Pradesh have so far killed 74 people.
The state has been hit by 113 landslides during the period, causing losses of Rs 2,491 crore to the public works department and Rs 1,000 crore to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
Mr Sukhu has decided to declare heavy rains as a state calamity and also appealed to the Centre to declare it as national calamity.
