Hyderabad 2BHK beneficiaries to be selected by draw
In the initial phase, 12,000 houses will be handed over to beneficiaries across eight locations
Hyderabad: The long-awaited distribution of 2BHK houses for the poor within GHMC limits will start on September 2. In the initial phase, 12,000 houses will be handed over to beneficiaries across eight locations. This decision was taken at a meeting chaired by minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav with officials at the Secretariat on Saturday.
Present at the meeting were GHMC commissioner Ronald Rose, Hyderabad district collector Anudeep Durishetty, Medchal-Malkajgiri collector Amoy Kumar, Rangareddy collector S. Harish, and senior officials from the housing department.
The minister directed officials to make all necessary arrangements for the distribution of 2BHK houses in line with the directives of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and IT minister K.T. Rama Rao.
Yadav said the beneficiaries will be selected from the applicants through a random draw at the Hyderabad Collectorate office on August 24, using randomisation software.
During a meeting held at Pragathi Bhavan on August 16 with ministers responsible for Hyderabad, Rangareddy, and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts, municipal minister K.T. Rama Rao issued instructions to prepare for the distribution of 70,000 2BHK houses in six phases.
Rama Rao emphasised that the state government has set a target of constructing one lakh 2BHK houses for the poor, of which 75,000 houses have already been completed. Out of these, 5,000 houses have already been distributed, and the remaining 70,000 are ready for distribution.
He instructed officials to carry out this distribution in six phases, with the first phase scheduled for September 2, where 12,000 houses will be distributed.
