'Vote for Sure' 5K Runs Held in Assembly Segments
The right to vote is a birthright and everyone should utilise it
Kamareddy: To create awareness on the right to vote, 5K runs were conducted in all nine Assembly constituencies in Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts on Saturday. As per the directions of the Election Commission of India, the runs were conducted with the slogan ‘Vote for Sure’. In Kamareddy, district collector Jitesh V. Patil flagged off the run at Nizamsagar chowrasta. The run ended near Kala Bharathi.
Speaking on the occasion, Patil said the run focuses on creating awareness among youths, who turned 18 years of age, over enrolment as voters and franchise of vote. “Mobile vans will create awareness among newly enrolled voters on how to use electronic voting machines (EVM) to exercise their votes,” Patil said.
The right to vote is a birthright and everyone should utilise it, he said.
Special enrolment programmes will be conducted on August 26, 27 and September 2,3 at all polling booths, Patil said.
Everyone should verify the details of the draft voter list and make changes if needed, he suggested. Kamareddy municipal commissioner Devender and others were present.
In Nizamabad, the run began at Potti Sriramulu crossroads. District officials, Asha workers, Anganwadi workers, ANMs, self-help group members and youth took part in the run at Bodhan, Nizamabad rural, Balkonda and Armoor Assembly constituencies. Despite rain, officials and youths enthusiastically participated in the run.
