Sadavarti Choultry lands fetch Rs 60.30 crore
The government had earlier sold the same at Rs 22.40 crores citing no takers in the auction.
Vijayawada: Open auction of 83.11-acre Sadavarti Choultry lands in Chennai got a huge response on Monday. Bids crossed Rs 60.30 crore. The government had earlier sold the same at Rs 22.40 crores citing “no takers” in the auction.
The YSR Congress claimed that this was the result of their MLA Ramakrishna Reddy’s fight, which got around Rs 40 crore additional income for the government.
Auction of Sadavarti lands, which had created a headache for the Telugu Desam government, has finally ended with huge profits to the Endowments department. The department, which faces criticism for selling lands to Kapu Corporation chairman Chalamalasetty Ramanujiah’s family members and others for cheaper prices, had cancelled the auction with court directions and taken up re-tenders on Monday.
