Hyderabad: Roads at Hafeezpet are in a horrible condition and on Tuesday, a school bus was stuck in the muddy road at Premnagar.

Another rescue bus had to be brought to pull the vehicle out of the muck. Commuting on this road is an extremely dangerous feat in itself. The underground drainage covers are broken and with overflowing sewerage, there is hardly any road to be seen. This has been the case for the last four years in Premnagar.

Meanwhile, there is no sign of the road being repaired. Ahead of elections, residents have said that they wouldn’t vote if there was no road provided immediately. A resident Mr Shyam Sundar said, “A school bus got stuck on the mucky road recently. Who is responsible in case of any incident? The entire colony is waiting for the leaders to come for the election campaign so that we can question them about the bad road. They will have to commute through this road to ask for votes. With bad roads they will not get our votes.” In August, the residents staged a protest by conducting a mock fishing exercise in the stagnant water. They have brought the situation to the notice of the authorities several times.
