BENGALURU: The Sadashivanagar police have booked a student of a reputed college for sexually harassing his junior. The girl, who lodged the complaint, stated that she was tortured by the accused on the college campus.

The police are expected to take the accused, Chethan, into custody soon. The complainant stated that his friends on the campus forced her to talk to the accused and send him messages. The police will also call his friends to find out who forced the victim to talk to Chethan.

In the complaint, the girl stated that Chethan had got her number from their common friends. He got her photos from her Whatsapp ID and photoshopped and morphed them to make them look vulgar. He posted those pictures on social media, Instagram and other college groups, even on the Whatsapp group exclusive for college professors, the police said.

The victim said that Chethan called her late at night and sent her vulgar messages. She said that she started talking to him because of peer pressure. In June, Chethan he put up a vulgar image of hers on Instagram and she had to face a major embarrassment in the college campus and among her friends. When she blocked his number, he started talking about her derogatorily on the campus. He had sent her messages threatening to slit her throat and warning her of a bloodbath. He had told everyone that he would go to the extent of raping her, police sources said.

After the victim blocked his number, Chethan got many SIM cards and started calling her from those numbers. When she started cutting the calls, he again sent vulgar messages and stalked the victim.

The Sadashivanagar police are investigating.
