Harish Rao slams TJAC, Congress for blocking Mallannasagar dam
Kodandaram had visited Vemulaghat in the dam area, on Tuesday and told villagers to continue their stir against the project.
Hyderabad: Irrigation minister T. Harish Rao on Wednesday criticised the Congress and Telangana Joint Action Committee chairman Prof. M. Kodandaram for raising objections to the construction of the Mallannasagar dam which, he said, will be the life line of Siddipet and other adjacent districts
Prof. Kodandaram had visited Vemulaghat in the dam area, on Tuesday and told villagers to continue their stir against the project.
Mr Harish Rao demanded that Congress leaders spell out their stand on the project. “Is it a sin to bring Godavari waters to these areas? Without constructing reservoirs how is it possible to develop the areas? Do they mean the people of Siddipet and other districts should be allowed to starve even after 74 years of Independence? Why keep on objecting to this reservoir?” Mr Harish Rao said.
He said 12 lakh acres in Hyderabad, Nizamabad, Ranga Reddy, Siddipet and Yadadri districts would get water from the project.
