Guntur: Houses would be constructed at Chandra Rajeswara Rao Colony in Guntur city under Housing for All scheme. The Guntur Municipal Corporation began searching for land to implement the scheme on Wednesday.

GMC commissioner Ch. Anuradha, after inspecting Rajeswara Rao Colony, said that houses would be constructed on government land in the colony under the Housing for All scheme.

Finding that some of the government land was encroached, she directed the town planning officials to initiate measures to protect the lands. "The colony is suitable and accessible to the public," she said.

Later, Ms Anuradha inspected the Rajiv Gruhakalpa housing complex at Chowdavaram. She questioned about why many houses were still vacant. To this, the locals complained about the presence of snakes, scorpions and insects in the area. Further, there are no streetlights and basic amenities in the areas and so the beneficiaries are refusing to occupy the houses.

She promised the locals of providing all basic amenities in the housing complex and directed the GMC officials to erect streetlights immediately.

The locals of Dasaripalem complained that drainage water was overflowing on to the roads and into houses. They sought construction of roads and digging of waterhand bores. The  commissioner assured the residents of resolving all the problems.
