Inking of bank customers’ fingers to keep commission agents at bay has left the people of Lakkasandra ward worried. With a byelection due on November 20 to elect the new Lakkasandara corporator following the death of councillor, Mahesh Babu, they are afraid the inking of their middle finger at the banks will come in the way of their voting.

A local businessman, Subramanya Adiga, contended that banks should have spared the people of Lakkasandra from the inking in view of the coming bypoll to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Council.

“Most were inked on their middle finger, but some have got inked on their left index finger. This could lead to confusion on election day,” he noted. Responding to people’s fears, local bank officials gave a go-by to inking customers’ fingers on Friday. “We have not inked anyone’s finger today,” said a bank executive.
