Tamil Nadu: Driver electrocuted as iron rods in truck touch electric cable
Fire and rescue personnel rushed to the scene on information and put down the fire.
Chennai: A 32-year-old truck driver was charred to death after his truck caught fire when the iron rods in the truck came in contact with a high voltage electric cable in a farm near Tiruttani on Friday. The deceased truck driver has been identified as Rajesh (32). He had taken a load of iron rods to a farm in Chinna Ramapuram in Tiruttani. The farm owner, Delli (55), had placed an order with a hardware store in Baluchetti Chatram along the Chennai-Bengaluru highway.
On reaching the farm, a few iron rods loaded vertically on the truck came in contact with a high voltage wire above the farm. Rajesh was electrocuted before eventually the truck caught fire, police sources said. Fire and rescue personnel rushed to the scene on information and put down the fire. However, the vehicle was completely gutted and Rajesh was charred in the vehicle. His body was moved to Tiruttani government hospital for autopsy. RK Pet police have registered a case.
