A vehicle from the convoy of Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swami damaged after colliding with another car

Bengaluru: In a tragic incident on Sunday, an elderly couple died on the spot after their car collided with an escort vehicle of the convoy of Sri Vishwesha Theertha, the chief seer of Pejawar Mutt in Udupi's Sri Krishna Temple.

The seer’s car was right behind the escort vehicle, which was involved in the accident. The incident took place near Karappana Halli gate in Hosakote in Bengaluru district and the deceased have been identified as

Ramakrishnaiah (65) and Sarvalochana (50).According to police, the couple was coming towards Bengaluru from Chikkaballapur in an Indigo car to attend a function.

The accident took place around 7:45 am. While the couple died on the spot, the driver of escort vehicle ASI Shambaiah sustained leg injuries, police said. Shambaiah was shifted to a hospital in Bengaluru where he is undergoing treatment. The seer's convoy was on the way to Kanwa  Sammelana, to be attended by the Seer in Konakuntlu in Chintamani.
