Special bench in all districts to hear cases of disabled
This is part of the 84 and 85 Sections of the Rights of Persons with Disability Act, 2016.
BENGALURU: The state government has issued a notification listing out the courts in each district to address the grievances and cases related to people with disability. The disabled can now avoid travelling ot Bengaluru to the office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disability to get their grievances addressed.
Commissioner for Persons with Disability V.S. Basavaraju said, “This is a step forward towards restoring the rights of Persons with Disability. Now, they need not come to me from different districts. In every district, a specific bench in the court is assigned. This can help them avail justice within their district.”
This is part of the 84 and 85 Sections of the Rights of Persons with Disability Act, 2016. The 84 provision states, “For the purpose of providing speedy trial, the State Government shall… by notification….specify a Court of Session, to be Special Court, to try offences under the Act.” The 85 provision states, “For every Special Court….the Stake Government may…, specify a Public Prosecutor…as a Special Public Prosecutor…for… conducting cases… in this regard.”
