A touch of sheen for all to Love Hyderabad' spot
Latest selfie spot gets lighting; permanent fence, CCTV cameras in the pipeline.
Hyderabad: The charm of the pedestal for the city’s newest selfie spot, the ‘Love Hyderabad’ insignia, has been enhanced by installing serial LED lights. The pedestal was partially dismantled so that the lights could be laid and has been swiftly replastered.
Even though it was a Sunday, there was a traffic jam on Tank Bund as bikes and cars slowed down to get a glimpse of the lit-up masterpiece.
Prshant Lahoti, a trustee of the Krishnakruti Foundation says, “This was an initiative by Art@telangana and the Krishnakriti Foundation. We have lit up the area and are redoing everything. The barbed wire fencing will be removed after the euphoria dies down. There were instances where people climbed upon the pedestal; we placed barricades to stop them. We did not allow anybody near the sculpture as the pedestal was still wet.”
A higher official from GHMC central zone says, “Our main aim is to beautify the spot, but there have been instances of people misusing the property. We are planning to issue a list of do’s and don’ts. We urge citizens to keep our city clean and not damage the typos. Its purpose will be served only when pictures are clicked from the left or right side but not from the front.”
A security guard on duty D. Das said, “We can control three to four people if they try to get on top of the typo sign, but if people come in huge numbers, it really becomes difficult.” A few days ago, a guard was slapped when he tried to stop a youngster trying to get on top of the pedestal. “CCTV cameras should be installed near the spot,” Das said.
