Tirupati: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam’s experimental Slotted Sarva Darshan (SSD) proved successful on day one where darshan was made possible for 21,000 devotees without any waiting time in Tirumala on Monday. Devotees desiring free darshan on time slots received their tokens by showing their Aadhaar cards.

Based on devotees feedback for Sarva darshan devotees, the TTD had launched the time slot and token system for Sarva Darshan devotees as well. Two senior officials under the guidance of Tirumala JEO had struggled for two months to set up the infrastructure for SSD counters and system for issuing tokens with time slots for Sarva darshan devotees. On a pilot basis for six days from December 18-23, the system of SSD will be operated and corrections, if any, will be included when the SSD time slot system will be made fully operational from March 2018.

The wide publicity taken up by TTD under the instructions of TTD EO Anil Kumar Singhal in the supervision of Tirumala JEO K.S. Sreenivasa Raju in the past fortnight yielded good results. The temple management had given extensive publicity through media, website, newspaper advertisements, SVBC scrolling, distribution of pamphlets in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and English to pilgrims at RTC bus stand, railway station, Alipiri toll gate. Earlier during the day, Tirumala JEO Sri K.S. Sreenivasa Raju performed puja at CRO SSD and commenced the token issuing activity at 5:50 am. TTD has deployed about 500 employees for SSD in all 14 locations.
