Hyderabad: Advisor to Chief Minister on minority affairs Mr A.K. Khan visited the historical Macca Masjid on Tuesday and inspected the ongoing works of preservation and restoration of the monument.
Mr Khan along with the Archaeological department director N.R. Visalatchy, Dy. director V. Narayana, contractor Srinivas Sulge and Superintendent of Macca Masjid M.A. Khadeer Siddiqui inspected the ongoing works in the vicinity of the monument and reviewed the progress of works and acquainted information about the material used for restoration.
He expressed satisfaction over the quality of work, but he took exception to the slow pace of work and directed the contractor to complete the works quickly as month of Ramadhan is approaching quickly.
He asked them to complete at least interior works of the Masjid before the Ramadhan. A. K. Khan said the works are not progressing in accordance with the schedule.
“We would review the progress on a monthly basis and expressed hope that the works will be completed on time. On replacement of carpets of the Macca Masjid which were not changed since a decade,” he said the minority welfare department will be asked to replace the carpets.
