Telangana lawyers face off at High Court

Two sides of HC gates present contrasting views over CAA & NRC.

Hyderabad: Mild tension was prevailed on Wednesday at outside of the Telangana High Court, when the two groups of advocates staged the demonstrations in support and against the  implementation of Citizenship Amendment Act and NRC legislation.

On one side of High Court gate,  some of the advocates vehemently opposed the CAA and NRC. On the other side, some others supported the legislation of CAA and demanded the NRC Bill. However, the peaceful demonstrations concluded in short time, after giving slogans and demanding their contentions.

Stating that the legislation of CAA was  against the basic structure of Indian constitution and secular ethos of  the nation, the advocates staged  the protest against the CAA and extended the support to the students of Jamia Milia Islamic University. Advocates  Mr. Afzaluddin Dakhani, Massiuddin, the organizers of the protest told that the law  should not be enacted on  religious classification. Mohd. Valilur- Rahman and other advocates said that the  law makers should keep in mind that the rule of law should be equal to all and no one to be discriminated on the basis caste, religion , race and sex.

Another group lead by K. Karuna Sagar and Janardhan Goud said that the new Citizenship Amendment Act was not against to any community and any religion, who are natives of India.  They said some  persons and  parties  were trying to  politicalise the issue. ‘No  person, who was born in India, whether Hindu, Muslim or Christian, would  not be effected with the CAA, only this Act was related to illegal immigrants’, Mr. Janardhan Goud said.
