GSI opens its first camp office in AP

 Vijayawada: Geological Survey of India (GSI) has opened its first camp office in Andhra Pradesh at Vijayawada on Tuesday.

Additional director general (ADG) and head of GSI southern region Ch. Venkateswara Rao inaugurated the office in the premises of Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC) on the 100 Feet Road in Kanuru of Vijayawada.

This is the first office of GSI to open in AP after bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking on the occasion, Venkateswara Rao said the new camp office will help maintain better coordination with the state government on matters related to mineral exploration. He said mines ministry that secretary V. L. Kantha Rao has been instrumental in establishing the camp office in Andhra Pradesh.  He appreciated APMDC director V.G. Venkata Reddy for the support in setting up the office in APMDC premises.

GSI AP unit deputy director general S.N. Mahapatro said their office will regularly interact with APMDC on exploration projects taken up in the state for better coordination, knowledge sharing and technicalities involved in auction of blocks.  

Dr. Apurba Banerjee, director (Technical Coordination), SUAP, P. Raja Babu, joint director, Directorate of Mining and Geology (DMG), D. Sreenivasa Rao, joint director, Directorate of Mining and Geology (DMG) Andhra Pradesh, V. Ravichand, DDMG, APMDC, G.J.S Prasad, director, GSI, and Vivek Sharma, director, SUAP, GSI, were among those present at the inauguration of GSI camp office.
