Hyderabad: Uttam Vijay Vargee, 19, an engineering student from Attapur, who was involved in an accident on Wednesday in which a person was killed and another injured, was arrested on Friday.
Shamshabad DCP P.V. Padmaja said there was confusion on Uttam's age on Wednesday, but it was found that he was not a minor and was not drunk. She said the owner of the car will also be charged for allowing Uttam who did not have a licence to drive.
Police found the car whom they thought belonged to Uttam's father Anirudh actually belonged to Uttam's uncle who had come to visit them. After his uncle parked the vehicle outside and went in, Uttam took the keys without their knowledge and along with his cousin and a niece went for a joyride to Himayathsagar.
When he reached Gandhinagar, he lost control and the car hit people standing outside a house.

DCP Padmaja said a case was booked under Sections 304-A, 337 and 427 and Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act against Uttam and the vehicle was seized.
