Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Commissioner's Task Force has nabbed two notorious burglars and their three associates who were involved in 11 cases. Police recovered around 52.5 tolas of gold and 2.5 kg silver worth around Rs 20 lakh from them.
The arrested men are Mohammed Khaleel, Syed Majeed and their associates Mohammed Sarwar, N. Shiva and the receiver of the stolen goods, Mohammed Mahboob Ali. The police also executed 16 NBWs which were pending against Khaleel and Shareef.
Task Force DCP B. Limba Reddy said that Khaleel, hailing from Saroornagar, was arrested and released in October 2016. To avoid the police he went to his mother-in-law’s house in Aurangabad.
Meanwhile, he contacted his associates Sarwar and Shiva and hatched a plan to commit thefts. The trio committed five thefts. Two of them were in Chilkalguda, one each in Lalaguda and Alwal and a vehicle theft in Mahbubnagar. Cops said Khaleel had 11 warrants against him.
Majeed was detained under the PD Act and released in October 2016.
He and Ali committed six burglaries, including one each in Humayun Nagar, Baha-durpura, Alwal, Uppal, Neredmet and Saroor Nagar. Five warrants were pending against Majeed.
The gangs move around at night in an autorickshaw or car.
“They look out for locked houses and open the lock with a screwdriver,” the DCP said.
Khaleel, Sarwar and Shiva were handed over to the Chilkalguda police and Majeed and Ali to the Bahadurpura police station.
