CPI, YSR to meet with Agri Gold victims
Nageswara Rao demanded immediate payment of ex-gratia to the Agri Gold victims.
GUNTUR: Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRC) will conduct a meeting with the Agri Gold victims on January 20 and the CPI will hold another meeting on January 23 and 24 demanding the government to release compensation to the victims.
Addressing a press meet in Guntur on Friday, CPI state assistant secretary and president of Agri Gold Customers and Agents’ Welfare Association M. Nageswara Rao severely alleged that the Essel Group and Agri Gold were create a drama in the take over of Agri Gold and in releasing payments to the victims.
He recalled that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had announced in the Assembly session to pay Rs 5 lakh as ex-gratia to 109 families who were Agri Gold victims but failed to release the compensation.
Nageswara Rao demanded immediate payment of ex-gratia to the Agri Gold victims. He announced that a meeting will be held between the Agri Gold victims and the Agents’ Welfare Association on January 23 and 24 to discuss and finalise the future course of action.
Meanwhile, YSR Congress state official spokesperson Lella Appi Reddy said that the YSRC will organise a meeting with the Agri Gold victims in Vijayawada on January 20. He demanded the government to pay Rs 1,200 crore to Rs 14 lakh victims of Agri Gold as early as possible.
He explained that YSRC president and opposition leader Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy had demanded justice to the victims of Agri Gold during the Assembly session.
Appi Reddy alleged that the state government had been negligent in disbursing the compensation to the victims and so the YSRC will conduct a meeting with the Agri Gold victims to decide the future course of action against the government.
Appi Reddy said that the victims were submitting their memorandums to Jagan Mohan Reddy during the Praja Sankalpa Yatra and he had announced support to the demands raised by the victims.
The YSR Congress state official spokesperson also alleged that the State Government had announced to pay Rs 5 lakh as compensation to the family members of the deceased seven months ago but not a single rupee was paid till date.
