Kozhikode: Farmers would be the top priority of the Congress if the party is voted into power in the upcoming general election, said senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh. “Improving the economic conditions of the farmers of the country will be the foremost agenda of the Congress,” he said while speaking to mediapersons here on Saturday.

“No other section has been affected like farmers in India. Neither the BJP nor Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a clear answer as regards the Rafale deal and the illegal amassing of wealth by Ajith Doval’s son. It is the testimony to the fact that corruption has taken place,” he alleged.

Ramesh said the CPM was providing breathing air to the BJP and the RSS in the state. “Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s each step is to help the BJP. Both parties have been functioning as two sides of the same coin,” he observed.

CPM is not associating with the Congress in other states so as to help the BJP. “The CPM cadres in Kerala have more proximity to Congress leaders than general secretary Sitaram Yechuri in New Delhi,” the veteran leader ridiculed.
