Police searches at Guruvayur hotels

They had stayed in Guruvayur from January 5 to 11.

It is learnt that as many as 79 persons who were part of the journey had stayed at CA Tower, Prasadam Inn and Prarthana Inn at the temple town of Guruvayur.

Thrissur: As a part of the inquiry into the bags abandoned by the persons who were suspected to be illegally transported from Munambam to New Zealand in a boat earlier this month, Kodungallur police conducted search operations at three lodges at the East Nada opposite the private bus stand on Saturday.

It is learnt from the cops who conducted the inspection that as many as 79 persons who were involved in the human trafficking had stayed at CA Tower, Prasadam Inn and Prarthana Inn at the temple town of Guruvayur.

“During the inspection conducted at the lodges, three copies of Aadhaar cards of residents of Delhi and two passport copies of Sri Lankan citizens were seized,” police said.

They had stayed in Guruvayur from January 5 to 11 as devotees on temple visit. The abandoned bags of the persons were found at Munambam and  Vadakkekkara in Ernakulam and at Thekke Nada of Sree Kurumba Bhagavati Temple in Kodungallur. All these cases are being inquired separately.
