Telangana: RTC union seeks 1,000 new buses

Hyderabad: The TSRTC National Mazdoor Union has urged Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to strengthen the state corporation by purchasing 1,000 buses.

Union leader M Nageshwar Rao said the city RTC needs new vehicles to cater to the expanding population and growing urban clusters on the outskirts. He said Delhi was purchasing over 1,000 buses, while Bengaluru and Mumbai picked more than 5,000 buses, and the city had 3,500.

On other issues, Mr Nageshwar Rao said, “The traffic police has decided to challan RTC buses for overloading. Every RTC bus would be overloaded during peak hours.” and sought exemption from the rule.
