BJP: DMK, Congress should talk to Karnataka on Cauvery
The BJP took potshots at the DMK working president M. K. Stalin for his 'concern' over the Cauvery.
CHENNAI: The BJP took potshots at the DMK working president M. K. Stalin for his “concern” over the Cauvery and said he should talk to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and obtain Cauvery water, to prove his commitment to the issue. Mr Stalin should take his ally viz. the Congress party chief Su. Thirunavukkarasar to accompany him to Bengaluru and meet the Congress CM there.
BJP state president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan took to Twitter to taunt the DMK leader. On Friday, the Supreme Court verdict reduced the quantum of Cauvery water to be released for Tamil Nadu to 177.25 tmcft but however said the river does not belong to any particular State. The Tamil Nadu government on Monday said legal experts are being consulted on the issue. In the meantime, in a bid to protect the rights of TN and safeguard the interests of farmers who are dependent on Cauvery water, CM Eddapadi K. Palaniswami will chair an all-party meeting at the secretariat on Feb. 22. The government hopes to take further action after receiving opinion of representatives of parties at the meet.
