A Revanth Reddy grilled by ED in cash-for-vote scam
Sources said that the audio tapes of AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu were also brought up during the questioning.
Hyderabad: TPCC working president A. Revanth Reddy was interrogated for eight hours by Enforcement Directorate officials in the cash-for-vote scam. AP intelligence officials were reportedly present at the office, but were not part of the questioning, sources said.
ED officials questioned Mr Revanth Reddy on the source of the Rs 50 lakh that was offered to Anglo Indian legislator Elvis Stephenson as a bribe to vote in favour of the Telugu Desam in the 2015 Legislative Council elections. The officials also asked him about the source of the Rs 4.5 crore that he was heard promising Mr Stephenson if he voted for the TD.
Sources said that the audio tapes of AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu were also brought up during the questioning.
Mr Revanth Reddy has been asked to re-appear on Wednesday.
The TPCC working president reportedly carried documents of money transactions and submitted the same to ED officials.
Earlier, Congress leader Vem Narender Reddy and Mr Revanth Reddy’s close aide Uday Simha were questioned by ED officials in the same case.
The trio was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau officials in 2015. Mr Revanth Reddy and Mr Narender Reddy were in TD then. The ACB officials, who seized the '50 lakh that was being paid to Mr Stephenson, submitted reports to the income-tax and the ED officials.
