Pulwama attack: Rs 25 lakh govt aid to jawan's family
At the Cabinet briefing, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the government will take care of the family.
Thiruvananthapuram: The Cabinet on Wednesday decided to grant Rs 25 lakh as compensation to the family of CRPF jawan Vasantha Kumar who died in terrorist attack in Pulwama, Kashmir.
At the Cabinet briefing, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the government will take care of the family. Vasantha Kumar's wife who is currently working on temporary basis in Veterinary University will be given permanent job as assistant in the same institution. Of Rs 25 lakh compensation, Rs 15 lakh will be given to the wife and Rs 10 lakh to his mother.
The educational expenses of Vasantha Kumar's children will be borne totally by the state government. A new house will also be constructed for the family.
Earlier, the Cabinet condemned the dastardly attack on CRPF jawans and expressed deep condolences to the families of the martyrs.
The meeting appealed to the people to stand united for safeguarding the unity and integrity of the country and to fight the terror activities.
The Cabinet also decided to grant the post of part-time sweeper to the wife of Biju who died in a wild elephant attack in Narikadavu within Kottiyoor range.
