Youth Congress angry Mullappally did not back hartal
Former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, despite his anti-hartal stance, endorsed it this time saying it's logical and spontaneous.
Thiruvananthapuram: Youth Congress leaders are angry at KPCC president Mullappally Ram-achandran not endorsing their hartal call against the Kasaragod twin murder.
Former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, despite his anti-hartal stance, endorsed it this time saying it’s logical and spontaneous. YC president Dean Kuraikose’s call was on his Facebook page.
Sources close to him told DC that he decided to call hartal on his own as Mr Ramachandran would have instantly rejected.
A section of YC leaders is also peeved with Congress president Rahul Gandhi for not mentioning CPM in his tweet saying, “We will not rest till the murders are brought to justice”.
The High Court has slapped a suo moto case against the YC State president for deciding on ‘lightning hartal’ call.
Party sources reve-aled that Chandy had backed Dean Kuriakose. Meanwhile, Mr Ramac-handran whose Jana Maha Yatra was put off for a day after the brutal killings told DC that he was unable to control his emotions as he too has got a daughter.
“It was heart-wrenching to listen to the woes of Amritha, the sister of Sarath Lal who was hacked to death by the CPM’s goons. There were no words to respond to her outbursts as she was lamenting about her safety and security after her brother’s death. I am doubtful whether anyone who had gathered there including the local people and dozens of journalists could control their tears,” he said.
