Hyderabad: Wheelchair for patient on toy car

The hospital suspended two Class IV employees on Saturday after the incident came to light via a viral video.

On Thursday, at Gandhi hospital, patient Sarikonda Raju (right) was forced to use a toy car instead of a wheelchair when his wife refused to pay attenders Rs 100 as a bribe. The video of the incident went viral triggering widespread outrage on Friday.

Hyderabad: Gandhi Hospital patient S. Raju, who was forced to ride a toy car as he was denied a wheelchair, was given a tricycle wheelchair by a non-government organisation on Sunday at the behest of health minister Dr Laxma Reddy.

The hospital suspended two Class IV employees on Saturday after the incident came to light via a viral video.

The sensitisation program for ward boys will be carried out from Monday. The government wants all hospitals follow-up with the programme, following complaints of patients being denied wheelchairs and stretchers.
