Tirupati: Keep hawk’s eye on unusual cash transactions, nodal officers told

The nodal officers have to immediately report to the auditing department about suspicious transactions.

Tirupati: Chittoor District Election Officer (DEO) and collector P.S. Pradyumna on Tuesday instructed all the nodal officers in the district to keep a hawk eye on unusual and suspicious cash transactio-ns and asked them to report to the auditing department of the Election Commission (EC), if they found any online transaction of Rs 1 lakh and above.

The DEO on Tuesday held a meeting with the nodal officer and other election officials at his chamber in the collectorate at Chittoor.

Pradyumna said that the model code of conduct as well as the guidelines of the Election Commision of India have been briefed to all the official sections and the nodal officers were asked to take necessary, precautionary steps to prevent voters from getting bribed during election.

He said that all banks have been instructed to monitor and submit report on unusual and suspicious cash transactions of one lakh and above by individuals to curb the use of money power during the polls.

The nodal officers have to immediately report to the auditing department about suspicious transactions. He also asked the nodal officers to be more cautious and ensure that all the complaints received through cVigil App be addressed and notices to be issued to the guilty. The collector further appealed the public to utilise 1950 call centre and cVigil App to report any malpractices that they learnt. JC P.S. Girisha, JC-2 Kamala Kumari, DRO Gangadhar Goud, nodal officers from the district and other officials participated.
