Hyderabad: Dangerous pools snuff out lives
In another incident, D Yashwanth, studying in Class VIII, drowned in a similar incident.
Hyderabad: Md Shoaib, a Class X student who went to a private swimming pool with his friends drowned while playing in the pool in Pahadishareef. A Class VIII student Yashwanth also drowned in a pool at Kulsumpura. In both cases, the pools did not have life guards or coach, and did not follow safety measures.
On March 8 Md Shoaib, 16, and his three friends went to 'Al Dayani' swimming pool in Pahadishareef. All four got into the water and Shoaib swam with the help of a tube. Suddenly he drowned.
In another incident, D Yashwanth, studying in Class VIII, drowned in a similar incident. Yashwanth and seven others went to GB Swimming Pool in Kulsumpura. Yashwanth didn't know swimming and drowned as he went into the water which was around 8 feet high.
"Had there been someone to guide him or warn him against going deep, he could have been saved. He also could not get immediate aid after he was pulled out. That cost him his life," Yashwanth's father D Pratap said. Both pools did not have a coach or any safety equipment. A case for causing death due to negligence has been registered against the pool owners, and they were arrested.
In most such incidents, the victims did not know swimming and entered the pool out of enthusiasm. Safety measures and deployment of trained personnel at the pool can avoid such eventualities.
