Salem: A day after polling was over for the 38 Lok Sabha constituencies and 18 by-Assembly segments, Chief Minister and AIADMK co-coordinator, Edappadi K Palaniswami said on Friday that "there is good possibility" of the AIADMK-led NDA alliance to continue for future elections in Tamil Nadu.

Speaking to reporters at Salem airport before leaving here for Chennai from here, Mr. Palaniswami said the winning prospects for the AIADMK-led front in the just held elections "are bright". "People have come out and voted in large numbers as they want this (AIADMK) regime to continue in Tamil Nadu," he said.

The AIADMK candidates for four other Assembly by-elections from Sulur, Aravakkurichi, Thiruparankundram and Ottapidaram constituencies, will be announced soon, Mr. Palaniswami said.

A party press release issued by both Mr. Palaniswami and the Deputy Chief Minister and AIADMK coordinator, O. Pannerselvam, said that aspirants applying for party tickets for these four constituencies should get the forms from the party headquarters in Chennai on Sunday, April 21, on payment of Rs.25,000 per form. They should fill up the forms and submit it to the party HQ on the same day itself.

Asked about the government's response to the damages caused by the sudden rains and thunderstorms in different places in the state, Mr. Palaniswami said as the state was in election mode, everything was under the control of the Election Commission. "I need to discuss this issue with senior ministers and senior officials," he added.

To another related query, Mr. Palaniswami said State ministers could not pass any individual orders now, as all administrative matters were under the EC's purview until the results were declared on May 23.
