Kozhikode: Kripesh’s family gets new house
The 1,100 sq-ft house has three bedrooms, kitchen, central hall and dining hall.
KOZHIKODE: The family of Kripesh at Kalliyott can hereafter live in a new house thanks to the initiative of Mr Hibi Eden, Ernakulam MLA, who has constructed it und-er the Thanal Bhavanam Scheme.
Kripesh was one of the two Youth Congress workers who were murdered allegedly by CPM men at Periya a few months ago. Mr Eden who visited Kripesh’s house was moved by the plight of the family and built the house in 45 days at a cost of `20 lakh under the Thanal scheme envisaged by the MLA to construct houses for the poor.
Kripesh’s family was living in a single room thatched house. Mr Hibi along with his wife Anna and son arrived for the house warming ceremony on Friday and handed over the keys to Kripesh’s father Krishnan. All those who were present on the occasion were moved to tears.
The 1,100 sq-ft house has three bedrooms, kitchen, central hall and dining hall. The title deed of the property is in the name of Kripesh’s father. The old house has been retained to rekindle the memories of Kripesh.
Mr Eden said that it was a gesture of kindness towards the family which suffered a huge loss. This is the third house constructed under the scheme.
The Kasargod district committee of Pravasi Congress constructed a borewell close to the house and the local people helped the family build a road to their house.
