Kaleshwaram is lifting a river to fields: K Chandrashekhar Rao
CM tells workers not to compromise on quality.
Warangal: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, during his visit to Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district on Sunday, said that lifting 3 TMCs of water every day from river Godavari into Telangana areas is like “diverting a river” to flow towards the agriculture fields. The project is aimed at irrigating 45 lakh acres of farm lands.
Mr Rao visited the construction sites of a pump house at Kannepalli village and the barrage at Medigadda and interacted with the officials concerned. He praised the engineers and the construction company for bringing the prestigious project close to completion at a commendable pace. Braving the scorching heat, he went around the construction sites inspecting each and every aspect. He went into the pump house in a lift and observed the machinery as the engineers explained to him how they work.
Speaking to officials during the review meeting after the inspection, Mr Rao said that it was not only the completion of the construction of project that was important, but also its maintenance and operation. Hence there should be no compromise on the quality of works, he told them. The CM said that the project becoming able to lift 2TMC of water per day by July was a welcome sign. Referring to the agencies involved in the project, Mr Rao said that since it was a major project, some small technical snags could be expected and their recurrence must be prevented. About the operation of the pump house and other projects, Mr Rao suggested setting up of an independent wireless system for coordination.
