Kollam: As the body of Annamma, 75, of Thuruthikkara, Nediyavila, Puthoor, who died six days ago is still kept a morgue waiting for a final decision on her burial, the Kerala State Women's Commission has registered a suo motu case on the incident. An all- party meeting scheduled to be held on Tuesday in the presence of local MLA Kovoor Kunjumon and the district collector will take a final decision. Women's commission member Shahida Kamal visited her bereaving family following which a case was registered.

Annamma was a member of the Jerusalem Mar Thoma church for the past 40 years. The commission said that all technical aspects should be kept aside to bury the body without disrespecting it. All religions and ideologies teach to respect the dead body, it said. An all-party meeting convened by the Kunnathoor panchayat authorities on Friday had decided to construct a concrete vault to bury the body apparently avoiding any environmental issues. Meanwhile, a BJP worker Rajesh from Sasthamkotta, who had filed a complaint against the cemetery in the court, opposed the move.
