Hubballi: A constable attached to Hubballi Town police station has been suspended from service for his Facebook post against the state government on Tuesday.

Arun Dollin, the suspended constable, had shared a post on social media sites on Saturday night which said, "Mr CM, when you will waive off farm loan, when you will resign?" Another post he shared had derogatory remarks against Congress MLA Laxmi Hebbalkar and the third one was against former Congress MP and Sandalwood star Ramya. In the fourth post, he supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi and  hailed the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana.

Police Commissioner M.N. Nagaraj on coming to know about the incident, suspended him from service with immediate effect. He said the constable has shared some derogatory posts against the government on social media. "Being a government servant, he should not have shared such posts. Therefore, we have initiated punitive action and also ordered an inquiry against him", he said.

The home ministry has issued a show-cause notice to the Hubballi-Dharwad police commissioner asking for details of the post after it was telecast in the media. The government had also questioned the police as to why the matter was not brought to its notice.
