Raghavendra Chauhan elevated as CJ of Telangana High Court
He was then elevated as permanent judge of the high court in June 2005.
Hyderabad: The Acting Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court, Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan has been made Chief Justice of the same court.
The Union ministry of law and justice on Wednesday issued a notification in this regard. The position has been vacant since April this year, when Chief Justice Radhakrishnan was transferred to the Calcutta High Court.
Justice Chauhan, who belongs to Rajasthan, was born on December 24, 1959. He graduated from the Arcadia University in the US in 1980 and obtained a law degree from Delhi University in 1983. He enrolled as a member of the Rajasthan Bar Council in November of the same year and practised in the Rajasthan HC from 1986 to 2005.
He was then elevated as permanent judge of the high court in June 2005.
In March 2015, Justice Chauhan was transferred to the Karnataka High Court and later to the Hyderabad High Court, and after bifurcation, he was allotted to the Telangana High Court.
Justice V. Ramasubramanian, the senior judge of the TS High Court, was elevated to Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
The Union law ministry on Wednesday issued a notification in this regard along with the notification of Justice Chauhan’s elevation. Justice V. Ramasubramanian belongs to Tamil Nadu and his parent High Court was the Madras High Court. He was transferred to the Hyderabad High Court and later allotted to the Telangana High Court.
